Diamond Care
Diamonds are forever, with apologies to Hollywood. Baked at subterranean furnaces millions of years ago, a diamond does last forever. However, to ensure that your diamond does not lose its fire or sparkle, a few important tips would come in handy:
Diamonds are liable to get smudged and soiled easily, coming as they do into constant contact with your body. Lotions, powders, soaps, even the natural skin oils, envelop the diamonds you wear and reduce their brilliance.
Visiting your jeweller every six months is highly recommended as your diamonds could do with some professional care. Your jeweller can check to ensure that the setting that holds your precious gem has not come loose. At Breslauer & Warren Jewellers, you’ll get a professional cleaning as well.
Between visits to your jeweler, just a small amount of effort can go a long way to retain the brilliance of your diamonds.
| • | Jewellery pieces should never be stored together. They can scratch and damage each other. |
| • | A diamond can be chipped by a hard blow; so never wear diamonds while doing rough work. |
| • | Simply fill a bowl with lukewarm water and a mild liquid detergent of a reliable brand. Gently brush your diamond jewellery with a soft toothbrush while still in the solution. Rinse thoroughly in warm water and pat dry. This works well to maintain the brilliance your diamonds. |
